The Village of Gouverneur Recreation Department offers various activities for all age groups.  The Recreation Department strives to provide meaningful leisure-time activities in a safe environment.

Located in the St. Lawrence County Fairgrounds, the Recreation Center facility features a Cafe, Game Room, Kids Korner Lounge, Fitness Area, Concession stand and outdoor arena used for ice skating during the winter season.. 

Honors received by the Recreation Department for prestigious programming include the following:

  • 1999 Youth Bureau Award of Excellence
  • 2002 Health Initiative Community Collaboration Award
  • 2002-2004 NYS Safe Places Grant Recipient

As a result of the honors bestowed on the Recreation Department, the following motto was adopted:  "A Safe Place Where Kids Can Be Kids."
